5 Tips For Making Business Travel Easier

Business travel isn’t always glamorous for people that have to do it frequently.  Although for some people it may seem glamorous to jet set around the globe for their profession as opposed to sitting in a cubicle, it can be exhausting more often than not.

The constant movement and solitude that business travel involves can be isolating.  People who travel for business don’t get to go home to their life and family at the end of the day, but rather a small hotel room with limited cable.  On top of having to organize rides to the airport and battle traffic several times a week, it’s enough to start to wear a traveler out.

In order to limit your stress and keep your business travel simple, follow these tips.

Always Arrive Early

Even though you may frequently travel for business and assume that you know the way things work enough to be able to arrive at the airport at the last minute, you are not the exception to the rule.

Everyone can hit traffic or experience some kind of a delay out of their control on their way to getting on the flight.  Therefore, it’s in your best interest to always arrive with plenty of time ahead of you. Getting through security and to your gate at least an hour before the scheduled boarding time is best.  While you’re waiting, you can prepare your work before you arrive.

Join a Frequent Flyer Program

Joining a frequent flyer program is the best way to get deals and exclusive fares.  Even if you never use your frequent flyers, you should save them up for a later time.

You never know when you may be going on vacation somewhere and realize you can use your miles to get there completely free.  This is especially advantageous for people who frequently travel as the miles can start to add up quickly.

Fly On Holidays

Flying on holidays can cut your airfare down considerably. Even though you may think that holidays would be a crowded time to travel, it’s actually one of the calmest times to fly.  People are usually helpful and in a good mood since they’re in the holiday spirit.

Dress For Security Checks

Rather than wearing complicated belts and shoes which take a small army to unbuckle, get ready for TSA checks before you arrive.  Wear clothes which are easily adjusted and removed, and shoes which can be slipped on and off effortlessly.

Make sure that your laptop is easily removed and all your liquids are the right quantities and safely sealed in Ziploc bags.

Travel Light

Expert business travelers will tell you that you should never check luggage when going on a business trip.  Limit yourself to only one bag which you bring in the cabin with you.  You’ll navigate much more quickly through your trip without having to wait long periods next to the carousel.
