When I think about business I often find it best to occasionally break out of my preconceptions. Too much time spent reading the business pages can lead you to think all business occurs in office towers. Or these days that all profitable business involves mines and oil wells.
When I get in that train of thought, I try to find something to point me in the other direction. Life works in circles, and if everyone is on one side, it’s sometimes best to look to the other side for opportunity.
There was a recent article from slate.com that expresses this perfectly. It’s titled Junkyard Wars:
Why scrap heaps are the gold mines of the future.
So, remember, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.
